It’s been great fun traveling around the southwest, taking photo after photo of amazing scenery,1 but while I was walking around my neighborhood the other day, camera (and macro lens)2 in hand, it occurred to me that I haven’t shared any ordinary photos for a while. Today’s post goes back to the basics of everyday magic.3
Above, a tiny fallen leaf on even tinier red leaves with red berries.4 Below, a blade of grass with teeny tiny seeds visible.5
Last, pyracantha berries and leaves with a reddish background of Virginia creeper. While I’m not generally a fan of pyracantha,6 I love this mix of colors.
Wishing you many everyday magic sightings and experiences too.
Over 8,000 photos in October alone.
A macro lens allows one to take closeup photos.
Everyday magic can be described loosely as things or actions that are so commonplace that we normally don’t even notice them. When we slow down enough to really see, hear or otherwise sense them, we give ourselves the opportunity to realize how incredibly magical they actually are. My primary engagement with everyday magic is through photography.
It’s weird but true that I don’t know the names of most cultivated bushes and flowers.
I am a complete sucker for any and all grasses with hints of pink in them.
Pyracantha has reached out and scratched me way too many times for me to feel any warmth toward it.
Yes, thanks for the reminder of the beauty of nature being everywhere ☺️
These are my favorite subjects - to look at and wonder at their intricacies and beauty. Thanks for the back to basics magical photos.
