A few years back, I was invited to join a Facebook gratitude group. Each day we were supposed to share ten things with the group for which we were grateful. I thought ten was an arbitrary number so I didn’t necessarily share that many — but I always shared at least three.1
At first there were days when it was difficult to find any gratitude within myself at all. Sometimes the only things I could feel grateful for were that my lungs breathed in and out on their own and that my heart kept beating.
After a while gratitude became a habit. I was grateful that I still had all four limbs and that I could see, hear, smell, taste, and feel. I was grateful for indoor plumbing, heat, and AC. I was grateful for my kitties.2
These days, I’m thankful there are so many things for which I’m grateful that I can’t even begin to name or list them all.
Which brings me to the very specific gratitude that prompted this post: I’m so grateful for each and every one of you, dear readers. You can’t imagine how much it means to me that you continue to open my missives. That many of you go further and let me know how much you liked one or another of them — through your “likes,” comments, emails, and in person — is nothing short of amazing. I’m so grateful to be able to share my photos with a group of people who clearly appreciate them. Thank you.
Here’s wishing those of you in the US a happy, safe, and delicious Thanksgiving weekend. If you’re elsewhere, here’s hoping you too enjoy a happy, safe, and delicious non-holiday weekend. Cheers!
Which was also an arbitrary number but much less daunting than 10.
They would disagree that they’re my kitties. They would instead characterize me as their housekeeper, and not a very good one at that. (I’m grateful they’re upfront about how they feel.)
Happy Thanksgiving Lisa! 🦃This post is so fitting for the day! Beautiful pics & words!
Love seeing your beautiful photos!
