You might remember that I shared a couple of different views of Grand Mesa’s Lost Lake last week. As promised, here’s a view of the other Lost Lake which was larger, yet quite a bit easier to walk around. It’s about 90 miles from the Grand Mesa version, closer to Crested Butte (Colorado).
The trail I took to this particular Lost Lake was super scenic.
After visiting Lost Lake, I continued on to Dollar Lake. This was the view from my lunch spot atop a fallen log.
On my way back, I walked along the shore of yet another body of water, Lost Lake Slough. According to the dictionary, slough (in this usage) is pronounced slew and refers to a marshy, swampy, muddy kind of place. Maybe it’s just my New Mexican eyes, unused to large amounts of water, but this looks an awful lot like a full-blown lake to me.1
Hope you enjoy this last week before the holiday season erupts begins.
Indeed, the trail I took past all three bodies of water was called the Three Lakes Trail.
All so beautiful, especially the reflections! Hope your holidays just simmer comfortably.
Wow, wow, wow, wow!
