A friend and I happened upon some daredevil bike riding — or perhaps I should say bike flying — in the foothills a couple of weeks ago.1 For once, I had the right camera and lens with me.
Several cyclists were hurtling down a hill that had been groomed to ensure riders would go airborne.
All were obviously quite youthful and certain of their immortality.
At least, that’s what I thought until we got back to the parking lot, where we watched one of those three riders do a really crazy sliding stop. He took his helmet off and I realized he had a full beard. It appeared that the other two riders were his sons.
Above, a shot of the Bearded One as he watched one of his kids take off. I admit it looks like a lot of fun — or, at least, as if it would be if I were younger and fancied myself completely indestructible.
Yes, I take photos even on social outings. I’m grateful to all of my super-patient friends.
Hooray! for people living fully. At least what's full for them. Yes, I'm a feet on the ground person too.
Great shots! as I read, I wondered if any of the riders were Jonathan or Roopal! then discovered they were not! I much prefer to keep my feet on the ground and the stationary bicycle where it is, indoors.
As a younger person I also preferred to climb trees and stay aloft that way.
Thanks Lisa!
