First of all: My apologies if you received a second email about Sandia hairstreaks last Friday. Apparently Substack — the platform I use to send these emails — had some issues last week.1 I’ve pasted their explanations and apologies at the bottom of this email.
I’ve been taking care of my friend Margo’s yard lately; her flowers are gorgeous. Spring has been a long time coming to my tiny corner of the world, and it’s so nice to finally see bright colors.
The flowers above are fruit tree blossoms. The photo below shows the inside of one of Margo’s tulips. I think it’s one of the prettiest tulips I’ve ever seen.
Last, a photo of … well, I’m not sure what it is. I think the flowering branch is part of a redbud tree, but what is that line of off-white ovals overlapping each other? I bet one or more of you have an idea — please let me know in the comments if you do. Thanks in advance!

Substack’s comment on Friday
Due to a technical incident, some publishers2 may see delayed or duplicate email or app notifications for a small number of posts over the last two days. We apologize for the disruption and have addressed the underlying issue.
Substack’s comment on Sunday
We have found and fixed two separate technical issues, one on April 8 and another on April 9, that resulted in some posts being sent twice to subscribers. We truly apologize for any frustration this situation has caused. We will be conducting an extensive investigation over the coming week to make sure that this does not happen again. Thanks for understanding and again, we are sorry.
I actually don’t have a clue how to re-send any of these emails, other than to copy and paste them into a brand-new message. Which I assure you I haven’t done.
According to Substack, I’m a “publisher.”
I look forward to someone explaining the overlapping white ovals! All pics - as magnificent as always. Thanks Lisa!
