I mentioned the four trail possibilities out to Del Agua Overlook in the last email. In the fall, and only in the fall, my preference is to take Ellis Trail both ways. It’s a rocky, up-and-down trail which sometimes makes that 4-mile round trip seem much longer. But it also goes along an aspen-lined meadow the entire way.
On the way out this year, I noticed some fallen leaves covered in dew.
So the tough hike was worth it after all, for many different reasons. Not the least of which, as I get older, is simply knowing that I can still do it.
We watch the aspens turning from the north end of the Sandia - so beautiful up close!
