Mountain bluebells, like almost every other flower I try to photograph, grow close to the ground. They’re pretty small and I usually don’t want to get down on my hands and knees to get the shot. Last weekend I was coming down a trail carved into the side of a canyon. I looked up and there were some bluebells, more or less at eye level. It was a great opportunity and I grabbed it.
The yuccas in the foothills usually bloom mid- to late-April. I don’t recall seeing any last spring, and I’ve seen only three blooming so far this year. I noticed the third last week. It had a background of Apache plume.
I don’t think I’ve ever noticed how complementary the colors of yucca and Apache plume are.
