It was so cold up here in the foothills a couple of weeks ago that I decided to take a walk in the bosque instead. I was surprised to hear a group of cranes ahead of me, and eventually crept up to the banks of the Rio Grande in the hopes of seeing them. Just then, a group of three flew by.
I focused on the cranes and followed them across the sky with my camera. When the cranes passed just above the sun, I thought, “Oh yeah. The sun. I knew it was there but I forgot.” I figured I’d be deleting those photos as soon as I looked at them. To my great surprise, I actually liked them. I’m guessing the rainbow effect resulted from light splatting across the lens and/or lens filter.
I hiked all over the foothills of the Organ mountains last weekend. At one point I looked up at the sky and saw a cloud that looked more like a feather than any I’ve ever seen. I took multiple photos as the cloud moved and morphed with the wind.
Finally, here’s a photo I took on March 24th last year. I’d received my second COVID vaccination earlier that day and was sure that the pandemic was all but over. The world appeared to be opening up again, and the sunset that evening seemed to be a beautiful harbinger of that reopening.
Alas, my extreme optimism was somewhat misplaced. The world didn’t open up as much or as quickly as I’d hoped. Nonetheless, that second vaccination definitely cracked the door open to a less restricted life.
That cloud is AMAZING! What a catch.
The feather cloud is beautiful. I never cease to be amazed at the delicacy of some of the cloud formations I see.
