I visited the Albuquerque Rose Garden a few weeks ago, when the roses were at their peak. A ladybug was exploring a Chihuly rose and I loved the color combo. Not to mention that ladybugs are just so dang cute, pretty much no matter where they are.
I learned after I took the photo that there are numerous ladybug species (they’re technically beetles) and many, just like this one, don’t have any spots at all.
I was up on the Crest Trail a few weeks ago when I spotted a rock with many different colors of lichen. If you look closely, you can even see lichen growing on the insides of the crack.
Lichens are endlessly fascinating to me. It seems as if they have their own secret world, a world that’s dramatically different from our own.
