After an extremely dry winter, the Sandia mountains finally received a bit of snow in February. Accompanying the snow were some lovely cloud displays. Here’s a photo of the high Sandias near the end of the day, as the clouds and fog began to clear.
Our first real snow, on February 3rd, blanketed the foothills. For those of you who live in cooler climes, the photo below may not exactly evoke the word “blanket,” but I assure you it’s a lot of snow for the foothills. Furthermore, it stuck around for several days, which is really unusual here — usually it melts the same day.
I think I’ve mentioned previously that the Sandias (aka the watermelon mountains) are often particularly beautiful at sunset during the months of January and February. This year was no exception. Below, a photo of the last bit of light on the foothills as I faced south a couple of weeks ago.
Marching into next month….
You captured the always changing beauty of this glorious mountain range. Love it!
