It snowed a day or two after Thanksgiving. I went out for a walk around the neighborhood and a flash of color caught my eye. Several flashes, in fact. One was the blanketflower below (aka Gaillardia).
The yellow flower is probably related to sunflowers, might even be a species of sunflower for all I know, but it doesn’t look quite like most I’ve seen.
Nearby, a humble purple aster showed off its own coating of ice and snow.
I loved seeing the collision of three different seasons. Now, more than a week and several overnight freezes later, all but the blanketflowers are still blooming.
Back to last week’s mystery reflection …
Two of you figured it out. The reflective surface was the dark blue hood of an SUV. I took numerous photos of it because I thought the reflections were so pretty. And fortunately, its owners didn’t show up right then to wonder why the heck I was photographing their car.
