Today, the first official day of winter, features the shortest day of the year in the northern hemisphere. Our annual journey toward light and warmth begins tomorrow.
Iām celebrating by sharing a few seasonal photos. Winter meets fall in the form of the cottonwood leaf below, preserved halfway in and halfway out of the surrounding ice.
A storm several years ago dropped more snow than usual onto the Sandia foothills, covering much of the vegetation. The lines and shapes created by shadows, as well as all the tiny sparkles within the snow, fascinated me.
I took the photo below, of icy reflections in the Santa Fe River, just last week.
I wish you and yours warmth and comfort tonight, the longest night of the year. Happy solstice!
Perfect choices for this Winter Solstice! Enjoy the Holiday Season and I look forward to seeing your magical choices in 2023.
Dear Lisa, Happy Holidays & New Year! Thank you for bringing the joy & beauty of nature into our mailbox, always a treat!šā£ļø
