There’s a week or two each October when conifer branches are dotted by the fallen leaves of nearby aspens. I never fail to be delighted by the combination and am invariably compelled to take just one more photo.
Equally delightful, but not quite as predictable, are the plein air painters who flock to Big Tesuque campground in the mountains outside Santa Fe.
When I asked this gentleman if I could photograph him while he painted, he told me he was a novice. Thinking about it later, I realized I still feel like a novice photographer despite years of experience. And really, aren’t we all novices in a way, despite our various skills? We keep changing and adapting to whatever life throws our way, whether in painting, photography, or anything (and everything) else.
